Parenting a child with a mental illness is a tough, lonely job! Those who have not been there truly cannot understand what it is like living with an unstable child on a daily basis. They also cannot understand the absolute joy that seeing your child accomplish things you never thought possible can bring. Only other parents and caregivers who have lived with a child with a mental illness can truly understand.
Unfortunately, because of the stigma attached to mental illness, we - the parents and caregivers - often feel uncomfortable reaching out to others in a similar situation. Nobody talks about mental illness. Those of us that live it can feel like we are the only ones. But, we're not!
This BlogRing is my first attempt at trying to bring us together. It has been a lot of comfort and educational to me to read the stories of others walking this same path. I believe we can bring that comfort and knowledge to more people if there is an easier way for the blogs talking about mental illness in children to be found. We can support each other and be support for others who desperately need it but have not found it.
